Romão was born in Angola. Due to the civil war, his family migrated to Congo, where he received basic education. After returning to Angola, he accepted Christ in 1992. He completed the Faculty of Theology and was involved in several missionary projects in Africa. He completed his training in aircraft maintenance at the Asas de Socorro base in Brazil in 2002, and served in Brazil for 5 years in the Aircraft Maintenance area. Romão has a degree in Aircraft Maintenance and a postgraduate degree in Religious Sciences.

Luciana was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Through a series of direct interventions from God, she accepted Christ as her Savior and Lord in 1989 and a year later felt a calling to Africa. Luciana graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Theology, Human Resources Management, and is graduating in Psychology.

Romão and Luciana got married in Brazil in 2004 and have 2 daughters, Hadassa (born in Brazil in 2006), Deborah (born in Uganda in 2007).

Romão and Luciana served in Asas de Socorro, Brazil until 2006 and in Uganda from early 2007 until October 2008. In March 2009, they went to Canada for Romão to obtain their Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer licenses. They then served in the MAF Canada Program in Angola in the area of Aircraft Maintenance and Church Planting as Pastors and in the area of Leadership Training in the city of Luanda-Angola.

In August 2022, they returned to Brazil  to serve in a partnership between MAF Canada and Asas de Socorro, Anápolis/GO. Today Romão works in the Aircraft Maintenance area at Operations Bases. Luciana in the People Management Department and together at CIM – Comprehensive Care for Missionaries.
